BREEDER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD (BAR)

BAR Chairman Helen Hittesdorf, PO Box 33153, Northglenn CO 80233 hhhitt@msn.com

All points are earned through direct and grand offspring. Points are awarded for titles earned in the country of residence of the direct or grand offspring.  For each type of BAR, dogs must have 100 points and bitches must have 50 points.

Owners are required to request BAR awards on the ABTC Awards form published yearly.   Owners must provide verification of the dog’s point totals.  BAR Pins (awarded to dogs with 2 or more BARs) are free. Members who have earned one pin on a previous dog must purchase subsequent pins. Additional pins are $25.00.  Owners requesting BAR plaques must submit verification of point calculations.  Verification of progeny titles includes a copy of title, year and page title was published in ABTC annual report or issue/page published in AKC Awards. A copy of the ABTC BAR list is NOT considered verification.  Verification can be: the issue/page published in the AKC Gazette; photocopies of the titles, copies of the ABTC Annual Report listing of new title holders.  It is only necessary to verify the most advanced title for Performance and Obedience BAR verification.  To use foreign titles, a copy of the certificate must be included. The sire, dam, and grandsires/dams must be written on the back.

Grandsires/dams who appear on both the maternal and paternal sides of the pedigree are credited twice.  The symbol 2x should be used next to the name of a dog who is to be counted twice.

There are three BAR categories: Conformation, Obedience (includes Tracking), and Performance (includes Agility and Herding).  Tervuren who have earned a single BAR award should use the appropriate initials in advertising: C-BAR, O-BAR, P-BAR.   Tervuren who have earned two or more BAR awards may simply use the initials BAR.
